First day of school 2007

Chloe started 1st grade today, and what a morning it was! She had a little bit of a cough which for her turned out to be a big problem. Adding to that her shoe problem ("new shoes are for running only mom, not for going to school." What was I thinking?) and her sock problem ("these socks are too fuzzy!") made for an eventful morning. Then her breakfast wasn't quite right (we won't get into that) and it was time to go. She said "Mommy I don't like getting up early!" Well, I don't know many people who do. Is it going to get better from here? It doesn't get better, it just gets different my dear! I have been praying and praying that Chloe would be able to adjust to her new class and make a friend, and I have to admit, I had reason to wonder if she would when I dropped her at her new class. She looked like a deer in the headlights, I did not want to leave her! But when I picked her up (a little early on account of my slightly overprotective nerves) she said "Mommy, I made a new friend! I love this school and I want to come back everyday!" Well, will miracles never cease...

First day of school 2007

Madeline started 3rd grade today. We got up early (she actually got up on time!) and had a deal that anyone who got dressed on time got to have chocolate milk with their breakfast. What a treat! We took pictures out on the back porch. Wasn't it just yesterday when she started kindergarten? I missed it - I must have blinked. She is WAY into anything "Cheetah" right now. As a matter of fact - if she is running late I say "Madeline, get your cheetah on!" and it makes her hurry. After all, everyone knows that cheetahs are super fast! Madeline loves her 3rd grade teacher who I hear loves superheros. I'm sure I will hear more about that later. As for now, this is a good start to what will undoubtedly be a great year!

Here Piggy Piggy...

Madeline (7) gets a brand new stuffed pink pig from the toy store. While in the car on the way home she asks...

Madeline: "Mom, should I name my piggy Flurry or Fluffy"?
Mom: "How about a name like Charlie"?
Madeline: "No Mom, Flurry or Fluffy! And don't you dare say Pork Chop"!
Mom: (laughing) "How about Bacon"?
Madeline: "NO PORK PRODUCTS"!

"DAM"!

So, we are touring northern Utah, Flaming Gorge area, and we ask the kids what they want to see next...
Dad: "Do we want to go see the mountains first or go see the dam?"
Madeline: "Dam!"
Dylan: "Dam!"
Dylan: "Chloe, say dam"......(no response) "Chloe, SAY DAM!!!"

Chloe: "DAM!"
